Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is made up of six members : the mayor (who chairs the committee), two vice chairs, and three appointed councillors.

Role

The Executive Committee makes decisions on City operations and oversees the drafting of certain documents that are subsequently submitted to the City Council.

It has decision-making authority in such matters as the awarding of contracts under $100,000, the approval of spending for work performed by contractors, and staff appointments and promotions.

The Executive Committee is responsible primarily for preparing municipal by-laws , the City’s annual budget, and the three-year capital program. It reports its decisions and recommendations to the City Council.

Meetings

The Executive Committee generally meets once a week in camera.
