Cross-Canada Public Art Competition − Québec Conference of 1864
Ville de Québec invites professional visual artists and fine crafts practitioners to submit applications to create a contemporary piece commemorating the Québec Conference of 1864.
Public art, which encompasses a social dimension, helps improve the quality of life of residents and strengthens their ties with artists. Public works of art characterize the locations where they are displayed and even redefine them. They speak to passersby in their natural environment and are often their first, if not only, contact with modern art.
Through its 2013–2020 Vision of Public Art Development and 2025 Vision of Cultural Development, the City of Québec is reaffirming its intention and commitment to beautify its public spaces and forge a distinctive identity using art.
